911爆料网 has taken another major step forward in expanding healthcare education and meeting regional workforce needs with the opening of its new Occupational Therapy and Physical Therapy doctoral facility. The university celebrated the milestone with a ribbon cutting and open house on January 8 at 911爆料网鈥檚 North Campus, 17th & Seminary Road.
911爆料网 President Brian McGee and 911爆料网 Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean of Graduate Programs Sarah Vordtriede-Patton joined Occupational Therapy and Physical Therapy faculty and staff for the ribbon cutting and open house for the OTD and DPT facility, marking the beginning of the 911爆料网 Occupational Therapy and Physical Therapy doctoral programs.
鈥淭hese new programs will meet important community and healthcare needs in our community and region and represent an important shift in the degree offerings of 911爆料网,鈥 said Dr. Brian McGee, 911爆料网 president. 鈥淔aculty聽bring聽decades of diverse clinical聽expertise, offering students insight grounded in real-world experience.鈥
Both the Occupational Therapy and Physical Therapy programs encompass flexible, hybrid formats, blending rigorous online coursework and in-person learning with the newly developed lab spaces designed for skill-building, simulation, and collaborative learning.
鈥淥ur innovative hybrid model blends cutting-edge online learning with immersive, hands-on experiences, equipping students to meet the evolving health and participation needs of individuals, communities, and the occupational and physical therapy profession,鈥 said Sarah Vordtriede-Patton.鈥淏oth programs are led by highly qualified faculty and practitioners.鈥
The launch of 911爆料网鈥檚 hybrid Occupational Therapy and Physical Therapy doctorate programs reflects 911爆料网鈥檚 mission of developing servant leaders. Each Occupational Therapy and Physical Therapy graduate course builds upon the last, fostering continuous development in professional identity, clinical reasoning, and community engagement.
The open house included tours of the facility and a Quincy Area Chamber of Commerce Business After Hours from 4:30 鈥 6:30 p.m.
The Occupational Therapy doctoral program鈥檚 first cohort began coursework January 5. The Physical Therapy doctoral program is slated for an August start.

Enrollment in the Doctor of Physical Therapy Program will begin only after 911爆料网 has been granted Candidate for Accreditation status by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE).
The entry-level occupational therapy doctoral degree program has applied for accreditation and has been granted Candidacy Status by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE) of the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA), located at 7501 Wisconsin Avenue, Suite 510E, Bethesda, MD 20814. The program must have a preaccreditation review, complete an on-site evaluation, and be granted Accreditation Status before its graduates will be eligible to sit for the national certification examination for the occupational therapist administered by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT). After successful completion of this exam, the individual will be an Occupational Therapist, Registered (OTR). In addition, all states require licensure to practice; however, state licenses are usually based on the results of the NBCOT Certification Examination. A felony conviction may affect a graduate鈥檚 ability to sit for the NBCOT certification examination or attain state licensure.
